91.530 Le Marais embarks on an ambitious challenge of bringing together artists, scientists and farmers, with the aim of finding new paths towards ecological transition. Multidisciplinary artists and creators are brought into contact with the land and its means of transformation, and create a program around the exploration of the living.
Victoire de Pourtalès
An artistic program based on the living, in the century-old barns of Le Marais.
Embark on an exploration of an intricate and eco-conscious land art collaboration. This installation unites the natural world and human creativity, brought together by Victoire de Pourtalès from 91.530 Le Marais, architect Kulapat Yantrasast, and artist Olivier Mosset. The land art installation consists of four distinct components: a bamboo forest, a sand carpet, an earth dune, and large horizontal panels.
The work of Olivier Mosset, these monumental metallic panels measure five by eighteen meters, and have been meticulously painted with "chameleon" paint and then cooked, resulting in an unexpected reflective gradient.
After opening in 2020 with a focus on clay, the creative residency is expanding to include new visual practices. The artists are brought into direct contact with agricultural life, whose seasonality sets the pace for the residency. As a meditative and creative residency, it has also helped young artists to create works in situ, by associating them with local craftspeople to share their know-how.
The Historic Auberge serves as a workshop and a residence for artistic research. Rehabilitated using 91530 Hempcrete, it is also a flagship location for bio-sourced construction. Local resources such as wood, brick, earth, clay, hemp are made available to artists, who are invited to make use of the fertile environment of 91.530 Le Marais.
